Moreno Colaiacovo
Computational Biologist

Moreno Colaiacovo gets his M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics in 2008 from the University of Milan-Bicocca, with a thesis on the prediction of gene regulatory networks. From 2009 to 2013 he works at the CRA-GPG Genomics Centre in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, where he studies gene regulation mediated by plant microRNAs. In the context of an international research project, he is involved in the sequencing of the bread wheat genome, which was published in Science in July 2014. In February 2013, he obtains his PhD in Complex Systems in Medicine and Life Sciences from the University of Turin. In September 2013 he joins the bioinformatics team of Genomnia srl, where he performs computational analyses of genomics, epigenomics and transcriptomics data. He loves science communication and writes articles for websites and magazines.

Paolo Pavan
Bioinformatician

Paolo Pavan has got a M.Sc. in Bioinformatics in 2006 from University of Milano Bicocca with thesis on development of virtual screening algorithms after getting an Agricultural Sciences – Crops protection degree at University of Bari, with thesis on Mathematical Models applied to epidemics in agriculture. Always involved in computer software programming, also in Genomnia develops internal pipelines and open source software with particular aims to data visualization and integration, in collaboration with international partners. He is involved in transcriptomics, metagenomics and variation analysis projects. He also has been entitled of long term de novo genomic sequencing and finishing projects.

Valentina Vigano
Molecular Biology Lab Technician

Valentina Viganò obtained a BSc in Industrial Biotechnology at University of Milano Bicocca (Italy) in 2006. After her studies she worked as a researcher at “Istituto di ricerche chimiche e biochimiche G. Ronzoni” in Milan for one year. Then she moved to San Raffaele Hospital (Milan), where she worked for four years as a laboratory technician in molecular diagnostic. Here she improved her knowledge of molecular biology methods and worked with nucleic acids on the HLA system. She has been working at Genomnia as Molecular Biology Laboratory Technician since 2011.
